Abu Dhabi, UAE
A full interior design commission for a fine-dining restaurant in Abu Dhabi — an elevated contemporary space conceived to support long, unhurried meals in an atmosphere of considered luxury. The dining room is organised around a central spine of banquette seating in midnight-blue velvet, its high backrest providing acoustic privacy between tables while the continuous form establishes a clear spatial rhythm from entrance to rear. Flanking the banquettes, loose tables are set on ebonised oak floors with brushed brass chair frames upholstered in deep cognac leather. The ceiling is treated with a series of custom sculpted plaster pendants — organic, cloud-like forms each housing a dimmable warm-white light source — that descend to exactly the right height for intimate conversation without obstructing table views. Stone is used for all horizontal surfaces: honed Nero Marquina at the bar counter and host station, and a lighter Arabescato marble for the back-bar display shelves. Bespoke brass joinery runs behind the bar, its grid of bottle niches and display compartments combining functional storage with a rich compositional backdrop that anchors the room's visual identity.
