Abu Dhabi, UAE
An interior design commission for a contemporary pizzeria concept in Abu Dhabi, conceived around the idea of a relaxed neighbourhood restaurant with genuine material character rather than contrived decoration. The main dining space is defined by a full-height exposed brick wall on the rear elevation — its warm red-brown tones offset against smooth white plaster on the ceiling and bar-side partitions, creating a palette that feels both industrial and domestic. Timber-clad banquette seating runs the full length of the right wall at different heights, providing flexible accommodation for parties of two to eight within a continuous, generous structure. Individual tables are in reclaimed-looking oak with slightly rough-sawn tops, their natural texture contrasting the smoother stone-painted concrete floor. Pendant lighting is the primary atmosphere tool — clusters of amber hand-blown glass pendants are suspended at varying heights above the dining zone, casting warm pools of light at table level while leaving the upper ceiling in comfortable shadow. The open kitchen pass is framed in stainless steel and dark brick, its activity and cooking aromas forming an integral part of the dining experience rather than being hidden behind a partition.
