Abu Dhabi, UAE
A complete interior design commission for a private villa in Abu Dhabi, conceived in a contemporary Arabic idiom that respects the proportional conventions of Emirati residential design while replacing traditional ornament with a curated palette of natural materials. The entrance hall establishes the vocabulary immediately: a pointed arch motif rendered in smooth limestone plaster frames the double-height reception, its geometry echoed in the cut-stone floor medallion below and the perforated mashrabiya screen above the staircase. The ground-floor living areas flow openly around a central majlis — its L-shaped seating arrangement anchored by a hand-knotted geometric rug in warm sand, ivory, and charcoal — while sheer linen curtains across the full garden elevation allow natural light to filter softly throughout the day. Bedrooms on the first floor adopt a quieter register: the master suite features a hand-carved plasterwork headboard wall in an abstracted palmette pattern, paired with natural stone en-suite surfaces in honed travertine and warm pewter-finished fittings.
